Mass shootings have long been a favorite rallying cry for gun control advocates though compared to other firearm related deaths the statistics show that mass shootings are at the bottom of the list as far as numbers killed go. Once again, every major media outlet is hyperventilating over today’s tragic events at the Navy Yard in Washington D.C.
After the gun control debate fizzled out in the aftermath of the Aurora Theater and Newtown School shootings, it is apparent that pro-Second Amendment advocates cannot be swayed to accept more laws that will not prevent future trageties. As for gun control advocates, there seems to be no giving up on their part either.
Irregardless of the motive behind today’s shooting you can expect that once again the National Rifle Association and other pro-gun groups will be blamed.
While even the Centers for Disease Control’s study finding that gun laws do almost nothing to prevent violent acts, what should be considered is what would happen if all or nearly all firearms are banned. Since the election of President Obama, the militia movement has gained steam in a way unseen since the days of Colonial America. It would be wise to consider the potential national tragety that could befall America if the gun control advocates get their way.
