Truckers gearing up for ‘Ride for the Constitution’

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — How many truckers will participate in the “Ride for the Constitution” rally around the DC beltway Friday through Monday?

No one has a clue, really.

Various media outlets have reported it as a hoax, as “poorly organized” or have estimated a low turnout. Rumors about numbers, website shutdowns and National Guard blockades are flying faster than a deadheading Cat-powered Peterbilt.

The rally’s Facebook page has more than 140,000 likes.

We’ve seen recent rallies – like the Million Muslim March (which drew a few dozen) – fall far short of their promises.

So what could happen with this one? Truckers told us it could be a few hundred big rigs rolling, or thousands.

And what’s it about?

We went to the Doswell Truck Stop that was serving as one of the staging areas…

Bracken: Will Obama Stop the Music This November?

Western Rifle Shooters Association

Bracken sends; spread it far and wide:

Will Obama Stop the Music This November?

The current “shutdown” of 17% of the federal government has primed America for chaos with constant left-wing rhetoric and news media reports couched in apocalyptic terms such as crisis, brink, catastrophe, hostage, arsonist and terrorist. But a catastrophe is useful to a would-be tyrant only as long as it can be blamed on a hated enemy. In 1933 Hitler’s agents burned the Reichstag, not just to sow fear and confusion, but primarily in order to charge his Communist enemies with treason as an excuse to obliterate them. The German “mainstream media” dutifully parroted the Nazi Party line, without investigating the true source of the arson.

A similar pattern of scapegoating has been followed in the United States throughout the term of President Obama. For example, leading Democrats and their shills in the mainstream media have long…

How the Government Shutdown May Impact Hunters

R2R River to Ridgeline

Yosemite National Park turned 123 years old today.  But there was no celebration because it, along with many other public lands, closed as a result of the government representatives’ inability to agree on a budget.  So for now, Yosemite Falls has been turned off and El Capitan has a big sheet over it.  Uncle Sam couldn’t afford a birthday cake for you this year, Yosemite.

All media outlets over the past week have been bombarded with news of how the House and Senate cannot agree on the fiscal budget.  Whether you agree with one side or the other, there are real concerns over how the shutdown of our government will impact us as hunters.

1.       Public land use

Over the past week both the BLM and Forest Service published contingency plans for the potential shutdown.  Basically and governmental service that is not “essential to running the government” is going…

Rivers Of Crocodile Tears Flow From Washington D.C.

The news has again today focused on polititians pointing fingers at eachother while hiding in plain view the the very problem with the Federal Government’s fiscal woes. Various elected officials have cried about parks, national defense, and (whoops!) “non-essential employees”.  As America goes ever deeper into debt, the debate over funding the government is all about Obama Care, with no mention of numerous other parasitic programs, most of which are patently unconstitutional, that are bleeding America dry.

Let’s start with the National Parks Service (which cannot exist under Article I, Section 8, clause 17 and Amendment X, except within the boundaries of D.C.). From Yosimite to Yellowstone to the Grand Canyon to Glacier, people are being barred from entering. Cry me a river! Isn’t America 16 trillion dollars in debt with nearly 100 trillion in unfunded liabilities? Would a sane person keep a vacation home if their debt was rising dramatically and unable to balance their budget?

The fact is, with the exception of what is innumerated in the Constitution, any government owned “park” outside of D.C. is the property of the State they are in. This is also true with the National Forests. In Idaho, for instance, two thirds of that State is federal property in which Idaho’s government has absolutely no say. Not only is it unfair for representatives from other States to dictate to Idaho what it does with it’s own land, it is also unfair to tax people in other States to pay for it.

There is also crocodile tears coming from intelligence and military officials that America is at a greater risk of a terrorist attack even though almost every attempt since 9/11/01 has been partly helped the FBI who essentially entraped the perpetrators with the exception of the Boston Bombing which happened even though Russia had repeatedly warned us about the Tsarnaev brothers who pulled it off under the noses of bomb sniffing dogs and a near “police state” level of security. Meanwhile, revalations of the NSA building muli-billion dollar buildings and spying on essentially every form of electronic communication is yet another testament to the federal government’s overkill approach to security which is bleeding us dry financially are destroying any semblance of liberty we have left.

To me, this whole charade is about what government wants for us; it is about their detirmination to make us think we actually need all these unnecessary programs; it is about the government selling the idea that without them nothing could function. Nothing could be farther from the truth. As for those “non-essential workers”, it is well past the time to lay them off permanently, America simply cannot afford the unnecessary any longer.

Legal Insurrection Takes Gallup To Task For Inspiring These 5 Misleading Anti-Tea Party Headlines

A Textbook Example Of Spinning Numbers

Gallup Tea Party Support Chart 9-26-2013

” I covered earlier the negative spin Gallup put on its recent Tea Party polling.  What showed a stable support/opposition over the last two years — including a drop in opposition – was spun as a negative only by comparison to three years ago.

Gallup could have titled its report “No real change in Tea Party Support” or “Tea Party Support/Opposition Stable.” Instead, Gallup put this spin on it:

Gallup Tea Party Support 9-26-2013

That misleading spin has been picked up and run with across the media, which is trying to tie the supposed decline to Ted Cruz’s rise since 2012.

But there was no meaningful decline since 2012 — just 2% within the poll’s 3% margin of error.  Support is actually 1% higher than in 2011.  You have to go back three years to the 2010 mid-term pro-Republican wave election, when Tea Party support peaked briefly, to…

Real Life Zombies, Learned Helplessness, And Societal Tribalism.

Every which way you turn now days, there are zombies. They appear in movies, television shows, video games, toy stores etc.  Our popular culture is inundated by it’s own “zombie apacolypse”. They are so pervasive that they have become inescapable. While there is no harm in indulging in a bit of make believe on occasion it might be alarming to some to note the parallels between the “make-believe” and the real world.

The common description of a zombie is that of a neither living nor dead being whose primary motivation is to consume the flesh and brains of others. Keep that description in mind the next time you are in public and you will see there is some reality to zombies in a figurative sense and in some ways literally.

Neither Living nor Dead.

Real world “zombies” can be found just about anywhere. They believe what they are taught to believe, do only what they are told to do, never questioning anything that goes against what they have been taught or told and are usually very defensive of what ever they were originally taught to believe.  They do not live for themselves but rather to “go along to get along”, go to work, pay taxes, vote for which ever party they were told to, consume products they were told to, never the while believing it possible that an independant thought could be anything but blasphemy.

Try this: Go to a fast food restaurant and in one breath order a burger, saying “just the burger to go” after what the name of the burger was. More times than not the cashier will ask “do want that in a combo” and after reaffirming that you “just want the burger” don’t be shocked to hear: “will that be for here or to go?”

At this point some of my readers will be thinking “but that is what they were trained to say and it’s polite to just go-along-to-get-along”. If you are thinking that, please re-read everything up to this point and go look in a mirror because the cashier started that conversation with something like “what can I get for you” and you told them very specifically using the word “just” in the context of meaning “just that, nothing else” and if they were actually coherent when the asked you the question they may have noted the “to go, please” part as well.

Zombies are not solely in fast food, and can be spotted working in nearly every industry. If you rent a post office box, try paying your dues early, and then ask the rediculous question “why not” when they  tell you that they can not accept payment early. When they say “our system doesn’t allow us to accept payments until your due date” don’t forget this is a government service bleeding red ink from both femoral arteries.

Consuming the Flesh and Brains of Others.

Real life zombies obviously do not literally eat human flesh or brains but in a figurative way they do. In one way they infect others into “going along to get along” which leads the victim to stop thinking about what they are doing or why they are doing it. This is what leads to “learned helplessness”, or accepting the false belief that society is the way it is and nothing can be done about it. While it may seem to be impossible to cure a zombie, the idea of giving into this societal norm is a defeatist one. While there is no known one-size-fits-all way to bring people out of their trance like state, it is something we should not give up trying to do, for those who understand what I’m saying know what governments do when people stop thinking. We must try.

Societal Tribalism.

Another aspect of zombies is their attachment to what I’ll call “their team”. Sports is an excellent example in the way that most fans will defend “their team” even to the point of having to resort to absurd arguements. Though in sports, people’s lives, liberty, property, and pursuit of happpiness are not in play. In politics, however, everything is fair game.

You have likely heard “I won’t vote for Democrats, they want to raise taxes”, or “I won’t vote for Republicans, they’ll start another war and Al Sharpton said they’re racist”. What few people see is that both parties raise taxes, start wars, and use racial issues as political weapons. It is this narrow minded, single issue voting decision used by so many that has led this country to the shambles it has become and effected the world at the same time in a very negative way.

This tribalism can even be seen in those who say they don’t trust the media, but still buy into certain things because they want to believe it without out ever questioning it. It is as if people live if fear of finding truth because they would have to first question what they have already been led to believe and admit that they really don’t know.

Are you a zombie, or do you truly think for yourself?

“I have sworn upon the Altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.”

Florida Bails On Common Core

Florida Leaves PARCC by Executive Order

” In a stunning move, Florida Governor Rick Scott removed the State of Florida from the Common Core consortium known as the the Partnership for Assessing Readiness for College and Career (PARCC). This consortium is comprised of states such as New York, New Jersey, Arizona, New Mexico, Illinois, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee among other states.  Florida has been the fiscal agent for PARCC. Further, members participating in PARCC have the Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) written with the state of Florida. This may require member states to renegotiate their status with PARCC.

This move follows on the heels of other departures from Common Core Consortia. Earlier this year, Oklahoma and Indiana left PARCC. Michigan, Maine, Alabama, and Utah had left the Smarter Balanced Consortia over the past year and a half. Tennessee’s hearing on Common Core will begin next week. Growing political pressure to withdraw…
